
Kirstin Sharpin
Kirstin was born in New Zealand and studied at the RSAMD, graduating Master of Opera with Distinction in 2008. For the RSAMD she sang Tatyana (Eugene Onegin), Fiordiligi (Cosí fan Tutte), Nella (Gianni Schicchi) and covered Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) and Armida (Rinaldo). Other recent opera work includes the title role in Puccini’s Suor Angelica (Beethoven Ensemble) and Magda (cover) in La Rondine (BYO),
Concert work includes Messiah in Scotland and Germany, Ravel's 'Shéhérazade' with Stéphane Denève, and several appearances with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, most recently in excerpts from Poulenc’s La Voix Humaine. Kirstin is a Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme Alumna and was a semi-finalist in the 2008 Kathleen Ferrier Competition.
Kirstin is a past recipient of Countess of Munster Trust, Miriam Licette and Sybil Tutton Scholarships (Musicians Benevolent Fund), and is an Independent Opera Post-Graduate Fellow. Her studies at the Cardiff International Academy of Voice are supported by the Kathleen Trust. Future plans include Strauss’ Vier Letzte Lieder at the Queens’ Hall, Edinburgh, Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream with the RSNO, and Samling Foundation Masterclasses.
