
Carlos Osuna
Born and raised in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, México in January 4th of 1984, Carlos started his vocal studies with Cristina de Vadillo and later studied with Antonio González Guerrero, conductor of one of the most recognized choirs of México, the Angela Peralta Choir, which gave him the opportunity to become a soloist and receive a scholarship granted by the municipality from year 2000 to 2003. He was also a member of the OSEM Choir (Orquesta Sinfónica del Estado de México), in Toluca, 2004-2007.
He has played Beppe (Arlechin) in Leoncavallo’s I Pagliacci, Don Basilio in Mozart’s La Nozze di Figaro and Publio in Il Sogno di Scipione, Remendado and Dancaire in Bizet’s Carmen, Julián in Tomás Bretón’s La Verbena de La Paloma and has sung as a soloist in Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass, and Petite Messe Solemnelle by Rossini. He has also performed in galas and special events for the Mazatlán Carnaval and has also participated in opera galas with the OJEM (Orquesta Juvenil del Estado de México), in Saltillo and Torreón, Coahuila, in Toluca, Estado de México, Puebla, Guanajuato and México City, to mention a few.
In September 2002 he made his debut in Palacio de Bellas Artes in México City, in an event arranged by SIVAM (Sociedad Internacional de Valores de Arte Mexicano) to welcome the First Ladies of Latin America in the XI Conference of Wives of Chiefs of State and Government of America, directed by Enrique Patrón de Rueda.
He has participated as well in the summer programmes of the Opera Workshop of Saltillo, “Artescénica” 3rd, 4th and 6th encounters, 2004, 2005 and 2007 and in the Workshop of Operatic Improvement 2006 of IVAI (International Vocal Arts Institute), in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
He also has been involved in working sessions with Dame Kiri te Kanawa, Richard Bonynge, Enrique Patrón de Rueda, César Ulloa, Sherril Milnes, Liliana Gómez, Maritza Alemán, Lucy Arner, Tito Capobianco, Luis Girón, Katherine Ciezinski, Teresa Rodríguez, Denisse Masse, Ileana Cotrubas, Joan Dorneman, Fabrizio Melano, James Demster, Paul Nadler, Joyce Fieldsend, Michael Pollock, Tina Ruta, Rebecca Evans, Julian Smith and André Do Santos.
He obtained a scholarship of the Training and Improvement Program for Young Lyric Singers of SIVAM, 2004-2005 and 2005-2006. He was part of the Compañía de Ópera de Culiacán, in Sinaloa, México and was also part of the Coro de la OSSLA (Orquesta Sinfónica Sinaloa de Las Artes) taking lessons with mezzosoprano Martha Félix.
Currently he has a scholarship by Banco Santander for a postgraduate study at CIAV (Cardiff International Academy of Voice), United Kingdom. His primary vocal technique teacher is the internationally renowned Tenor and Director of the “CIAV”, Dennis O’Neill. |
