Claire Egan

New Zealand born Soprano Claire Egan has a BMus in performance voice from the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne, Australia. During her time at the VCA, Claire performed the roles of Pamina, Die Zauberflöte (2008) and the title role of Suor Angelica (2007) she has also performed large excerpts of Le Nozze di Figaro as Countess Almaviva (2007). In 2005 Claire performed the role of Anna Reich, Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor with Rockdale Opera Company, Sydney. 

In 2008, Claire received the Laurie Coon Scholarship from the Kiri Te Kanawa Foundation, and an Ian Potter Cultural Trust Grant. In 2007 and 2008 she received the VCA school of Music encouragement award, and the Alice Amy McDonald scholarship.

Claire was a finalist in the 2008 McDonalds Aria final, performing at the Sydney Opera House, and in 2007 a finalist in the Herald Sun Aria Competition. In 2006 reached the semi-final stage of the ABC/Opera Australia television series ‘Operatunity Oz’.

Claire has worked in master-classes with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Mirella Freni, Richard Bonygye, Ileana Cotrubus, Yvonne Kenny and Rebecca Evans and is currently studying with world-renowned tenor Dennis O’Neill, at the Cardiff International Academy of Voice.
